Escaping into My Books

I never know to say in these things. I guess that says something about me. I read a lot, write stories, and like books. I like a good debate. Nothing else is to say. :-)

Nothing bad to say...seriously

What I Did For a Duke - Julie Anne Long

This is one of the best historical romances I have read. Up there with my top 5

From the first meeting between the Duke and Genevieve I was hooked. Their banter back and forth was entertaining and funny, and added to the slow build of sexual tension and love. I like when I read these books that I believe that these two people actually love each, that I feel like I experienced when their mutual attraction turned into love. And this story took you on that journey and made you feel it. The story line was not predictable, once you think you know where it story would be going, it went in a completely different direction. And for someone who read a lot of romances, and has seen the same story line over and over...it is a nice surprise when one surprises you by not doing the expected. Genevieve is smart, and brave, and once she decided what she wanted...she went for it. I loved the reversal that went on later in the book, where it is the man who is being rejected and told...hey...I like this friends with benefits thing we have here...why ruin it? Ha. It was a joy to read how flummoxed Alex was whenever one of his carefully arranged plans did work the way he planned. I also liked that there were no unnecessary drama or misunderstandings to drag thing along. I hate it. The love story spoke for itself...it did not need any of that. There were too many things I liked in this to details. If hot sex scene, witty banter, and two great main characters are your thing...you will love this.
